Intellicast national doppler radar loop11/11/2023 Please consult your device documentation for instructions. On mobile devices, you can save the bookmark as an easy-access icon similar to other apps. For example, if you select "Weather for a location," then select a location, the bookmark will return to your location on your next visit. You may bookmark the URL to return later to the same view with the selected settings. Current Radar (Intellicast) The Current Radar map shows areas of current precipitation. These doppler radars give the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Honolulu both reflectivity and velocity data about storms affecting the area. One each on Kauai and Molokai, and two on the Big Island of Hawaii. The URL will automatically update as you select the view and settings. There are four WSR-88D weather radars in the state of Hawaii. This view is similar to a radar application on a phone that provides radar, current weather, alerts and the forecast for a location. This view combines radar station products into a single layer called a mosaic and storm based alerts. This view provides specific radar products for a selected radar station and storm based alerts. Since hail can cause the rainfall estimates to be higher than what is actually occurring, steps are taken to prevent these high dBZ values from being converted to rainfall. This site is organized into views that provide relevant radar products and weather information for a common task or goal. Hail is a good reflector of energy and will return very high dBZ values. These values are estimates of the rainfall per hour, updated each volume scan, with rainfall accumulated over time. The NOWRAD Radar Summary maps are meant to help you track storms more quickly and accurately. Depending on the type of weather occurring and the area of the U.S., forecasters use a set of rainrates which are associated to the dBZ values. The Current Radar map shows areas of current precipitation. The higher the dBZ, the stronger the rainrate. Current Radar Radar Summary Yesterdays Radar Loop Satellite IR and Visible Satellite United States Infrared Satellite United States Visible Satellite Global IR / Vis Satellite Temperature. Typically, light rain is occurring when the dBZ value reaches 20. The scale of dBZ values is also related to the intensity of rainfall. Weather Underground’s WunderMap provides interactive weather and radar Maps for weather conditions for locations worldwide. The value of the dBZ depends upon the mode the radar is in at the time the image was created. See the latest United States Doppler radar weather map including areas of rain, snow and ice. Notice the color on each scale remains the same in both operational modes, only the values change. United States Radar Loop from Intellicast. See a real view of Earth from space, providing a detailed view of. The other scale (near left) represents dBZ values when the radar is in precipitation mode (dBZ values from 5 to 75). Current and future radar maps for assessing areas of precipitation, type, and intensity. One scale (far left) represents dBZ values when the radar is in clear air mode (dBZ values from -28 to +28). A weather satellite is a type of satellite. Contact the helpdesk for operational issues. Each reflectivity image you see includes one of two color scales. doppler radar loop covering the entire national lower 48 states. The dBZ values increase as the strength of the signal returned to the radar increases. So, a more convenient number for calculations and comparison, a decibel (or logarithmic) scale (dBZ), is used. Reflectivity (designated by the letter Z) covers a wide range of signals (from very weak to very strong). "Reflectivity" is the amount of transmitted power returned to the radar receiver. The colors are the different echo intensities (reflectivity) measured in dBZ (decibels of Z) during each elevation scan.
